Welcome to the gorgeous Rainbow Ranch Winter Wedding! Katie and Trevor trusted The Wild Montana Wedding, Planning & Design to create an EPIC day. Honeybee Weddings captured the beauty for the couple to remember all the special details. This micro wedding is a great reflection on how to have a BIG adventure with a small group. Although this wedding is designed with COVID protocols in mind, it opens the door to why a micro wedding are always be on the table. What is the best month for a winter wedding?! Can I get a “heyyoooo” for December?!
As our blog on How to Plan a Montana Micro Wedding states, the definition of a micro wedding is an intimate wedding with typically no more than 40-50 guests. Micro weddings are smaller versions of the large traditional weddings we have come to know. Planning a micro wedding is a great way to ditch the large guest list without missing out on wedding traditions. You might be asking, “are winter weddings cheaper?” And the answer is usually yes! Accommodations aren’t as expensive and some venues even give discounts for “off season” weddings.
One of these beloved traditions are wedding favors. By having a micro wedding, like our Rainbow Rancho winter wedding, you have more flexibility in how you allocate the budget. When it came to favors, Katie and Trevor wanted to do something unique and memorable. Out with the beer koozies (we will miss you) in with CUSTOM Montana mugs! Not only are these extra special, but we loved working with Lulu Pottery! Laura opened Lulu Pottery in 2013 to throw her own porcelain and runs a production studio out of her home in Bozeman, Montana. She obsesses with clay for the past 20 years. We obsess with her, her pottery, and her little dog too!
Consider with our Rainbow Ranch winter wedding is that color palettes get lost in the pale, snowy landscape. In case the question, “are winter weddings a thing,” is on your mind… I think this gorgeous Big Sky winter wedding is all the answer you need. YES WINTER WEDDINGS ARE A THING. As the planning and design team for this wedding, we did not want that to happen! We collaborated with our trusted vendors to add pops of burgundy and gold details throughout the various arrangements. Specifically, the burgundy showed up in the bouquet and other florals from Wild Blume, the bridesmaid dresses, and several table pieces. The most notable gold accent is the beautiful geometric shaping on the table cloth from La Tavola Linens.
To get married in the Big Sky Chapel, just a short ten minute drive from Rainbow Ranch Lodge is the ideal location for a micro wedding. The rows of church pews and oversized central window made everything feel big, without being overwhelming. Back at the Rainbow lodge, Montana, the Wild Caddis Restaurant had incredible food and custom cocktails. Hosting the lodge wedding reception allowed guests to stay on site, which was convenient, and soooo much fun. Basically, a jumbo sleepover. The property offers tons of Big Sky Montana views and also housed a wedding arch for those who prefer to get hitched at the wedding venue on site. Rainbow Rancho earned a 4.5 on The Knot which has a great breakdown of the amenities.
