When I thought about what I wanted our wedding to be, I knew I wanted our most loved family and friends there in a place where we call home. We wanted to be married in Glacier National Park. The mountains make me the happiest and we wanted an intimate wedding ceremony more than anything. We wanted something where we could be present in the moment and feel so loved. We were so lucky that our families made it happen for not just one day out in Glacier, but they made it a two day affair with the reception held at the Gochis family cherry orchard.
I thought I would be really nervous about getting up in front of everyone and saying my vows to Jake. It’s always been difficult for me to share my feelings and this caused quite a bit of anxiety for me. As soon as I took my mom and brother’s arms to walk down the aisle, all that anxiety melted away. My family and friends stood up with me. When it came to say our vows, it was like Jake and I were the only ones in the whole world. I was speaking only to him, and he only to me. A helicopter flew by in the middle of mine and I didn’t even notice!
our glacier national park wedding needed a party
The speeches during the reception will last with us forever. All of Jake’s groomsmen and their families came together to tell the story about how Jake was pivotal in them finding their mates. Bill even had a verse of Shakespeare to share. I love seeing how happy Jake was. My maid of honor rapped a rendition of Eminem’s Lose Yourself written about Jake and I. It was seriously amazing in every way!! Next, my mom and brother started reciting a silly poem that my grandfather would say when we were kids. I couldn’t have even told you how it went, but as soon as I heard it, I knew it immediately. From the audience my two uncles even chimed in on the verses. I immediately just sobbed. Just sobbed. It was one of the most meaningful wedding experiences for me. Whenever I look at the photo of my reaction, it brings up the happy memories and I get teary eyed all over again.
