Okay first of all—can we just take a moment for Moab?! It’s giving rugged red rocks, desert sunsets, and just enough wind to keep you from sweating your extensions out. Katherine & Avery’s Moab elopement with dirt bikes was not your average “kiss under a tree and call it a day” vibe. No no. This was an adventure elopement with a capital A—and it hit every mark. Honestly, the forecast pulled through like an emotional support bestie. It was supposed to be hot-as-balls, but instead we got 70s, sunny, and breezy. Freakin’ perfect.
Their weekend kicked off with a mini crew of under 20 ride-or-dies, setting the tone for an unforgettable celebration. First up: a cliffside ceremony at Dead Horse Point State Park (hi, EPIC VIEWS 👋), where nature showed up and showed off. Add in a live two-person band strumming their hearts from single to full-on married, and yeah—it was magic. Huge shoutout to their friend Johnny, who officiated with the perfect combo of punchlines and heart. He crushed it. Honestly, 10/10 would hire again for laughs and the feels.
Now, if you’re wondering what is an adventure elopement, this is it: a full-day experience that’s less about “centerpieces” and more about doing epic sh*t that actually matters to you. Like…dirt bikes. Yup. THEY BROUGHT A DIRT BIKE. After the ceremony, we took things off-road and kicked the adventure up a notch! Cue the dreamiest motion blur shots ever. I practically hang out of the car like a total maniac to snag the perfect angle! Let me tell you… it’s worth every damn second.
As a Moab elopement photographer, that moment—when the couple looks at me with stars in their eyes and says, “This is exactly what we wanted”—that’s my Super Bowl, baby. Right after the ceremony, Avery was literally buzzing, like “I am SO excited right now, this is exactly what I pictured.” And THAT is what it’s all about! These two started the planning process totally overwhelmed, no clue what they wanted other than “something fun” and “not boring.” By the end of the day, they’re not just married, they’re F*CKIN MARRIED. Surrounded by their favorite humans, they’ve just lived through a dirt-bike-riding, pool-jumping, desert-dancing adventure elopement that felt 1000% true to them. And honestly? That’s the magic right there. That’s the secret sauce. That is exactly why I do what I do.
Katherine’s bridal look was peak cool bride. A slit dress that caught the wind just right, and a white leather jacket with tassels and her name on the back. Beyoncé could never. And because this was an adventure elopement, we wrap with sunset photos overlooking the cliffs, a champagne pop ON THE MOTORCYCLE (yes, really), and then…a full wedding party pool jump at the AirBnB. Iconic behavior.
From dirt to dusk, tequila to tassels, this was a Moab elopement with dirt bikes I’ll never forget. Katherine & Avery—thank you for being the wild, wonderful weirdos I didn’t know I needed.
