OMG, Yellowstone National Park for an elopement? It’s the stuff of dreams! Our Hive photographer, Tabby, tells Abby & Jame’s wedding day story so beautifully! Let me spill all the tea on this epic day, where our couple went from canyon cuties to bison buddies in one of the most iconic spots in the world. Yellowstone National Park is basically the OG national park (hello, 1872!), with epic geothermal features like Old Faithful and a rainbow-colored hot spring that looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. Plus, where else can you see bison, grizzlies, and wolves just casually roaming around? It’s wild, literally!
We kicked off the day at Canyon Lodge and Cabins where they have their first look in the shade (pro move—it is SO sunny).
Then, they take the adventure to Artist Point (aka the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone). Ugh, the crowds are soooo “Black Friday at Target” vibes, but totally worth it. The falls are Mufasa-level majestic— they fight through the crowds like it is the last pair of UGGs, but Tabby nails the shot! I mean, you gotta do what you gotta do for those lifetime wedding photos, amiright?!
Lamar Valley Ceremony
Next stop: Lamar Valley. It’s like Yellowstone’s version of the VIP section—fewer people, all the views, and talk about dreamy AF! They find a river pull-off for a ceremony that is totally intimate, with only four guests. The sun is serving “hotter than Harry Styles in a Gucci suit” energy, but honestly, who cares when you’re surrounded by all this beauty? One of the top 10 challenges eloping couples face is choosing the location, buuuut these two get the insider scoop with location matchmaking from me so they don’t have to worry about finding the best spots!
Post-ceremony, they find this adorable shady spot (bless!) and take some family pics.
yellowstone national park elopement = next. level. views.
They explore throughout the Lamar Valley, finding picture-perfect light The wind doing its thing with the bouquet, the whole scene gives “best dressed for windy photos.” Insert happy tears here.
And of course, it isn’t Yellowstone elopement without some wildlife action! They spot bison in the (safe) distance. Keep reading for some buffalo-viewing pro tips because, honey, those things are BIG.
As the sun set, they wander over to this sagebrush spot with the mountains glowing in the background. They enjoy last of the autumn light and soak in the fact that they’re MARRIED!
3 Pro Tips for Buffalo Safety:
- Don’t get too close, bestie: Like, at least 25 yards away. Buffalo are not cute cows—they’re more like the Chris Hemsworth of the animal kingdom—huge and powerful.
- Stay in your car: If you see them near the road, stay in your car! Think of it like Shark Week, but on land—you’re safer inside.
- Don’t make sudden moves: Buffalo can run faster than you in those Lululemons, so play it cool and don’t be all up in their space. They’re basically nature’s Kardashians—look, but don’t touch!
There you have it! From iconic views to chill vibes, this Yellowstone National Park elopement was one for the books. If you’re looking to mix nature, wildlife, and some seriously epic photo ops, Yellowstone is your elopement hotspot. Just keep those buffalo at bay, and you’re golden! 🌿💍
