Would you be ready to commit your life to someone after 4 months? I know some couples who absolutely know right from the start. There are also a lot of couples who like to take things a little slower. For Kira and Keegan, a four month courtship felt almost serendipitous.  Kira’s parents got engaged after four months, and so did Keegan’s! But there was one problem. When four months came, Kira returned to school. Keegan got ready, IE picked out the most GORGEOUS ring and eagerly awaited her return to propose in Missoula.

During Kira’s first week back, Keegan was ready to propose in Missoula! I was also ready, waiting in the wings (bushes) to capture THE moment. Keegan says, “will you?,” Kira says, “a thousand times ‘yes’” and then they had the biggest hug!!

At least, that’s what I imagine they say. I keep a respectful distance away for the big question. Also, this is why your camera zoom features matter! It seems like I am right up in all their business!

After the proposal, Kira was absolutely giddy for the rest of our time together. She is such a sweet human, and her and Keegan are completely comfortable with each other. Four months or four years – I swear you could not tell! They have this ease about them like they’ve known each other forever.

Montana proposal in Missoula

Where can I propose in Missoula Montana? I will always give five stars to Blue Mountain. There is so much you can explore there and it’s only 15 minutes from Downtown! On this perfect summer day, I capture Kira and Keegan frolicking in the high grass, playing tag, and lounging together. Summertime in Montana is meant for fun! What I love about this shoot is that even though we didn’t have an outfit change, there are so many different elements of Blue Mountain to capture so none of the photos felt repetitive.

One of my favorites to shoot, pretty much anywhere in Montana, are the photos that really highlight the mountains. There are so many places across the country that you just don’t get mountains like this!!

There’s something about photographing in the mountains that makes me come alive. I step out of the car to meet these two, I smell the pine trees, anticipate the golden hour light, and get so excited that this is my job. Being out in nature makes me feel small. In a good way. It makes me really appreciate what I have. It’s such a rush to do something that truly sets my heart on fire in the most gorgeous state in the US. I’m biased, of course, but Montana is my home, and I’ll always brag it up. I spend a lot of time on Blue Mountain hiking, so to hang out with these two adorable humans was such a treat.

How to Choose Photos When You Propose in Missoula

For Kira and Keegan in particular, I loved getting the photos of them back to back, telling each other jokes and being goofy. Photos are meant to show off your unique personality! This is a moment in time all about YOU and your love! I will also say the most romantic place to propose has to do with your own story. For this couple, a low key session was very special to them!

Another favorite set of photos we are able to get are both the sun setting and the golden hours. With the bright green trees and sun shining through, it just looks like magic. Blue Mountain is also a great choice because it doesn’t require hiking experience. Be prepared to romp of course (it’s just how we do things) but you don’t have to be worried about getting all out of breath and disoriented before you even pop the question! I will also add, mountain photos are also great to use for wall art!!

An Adventurous Proposal

While you can propose to someone at home, there is something about kick starting the whole wedding planning chapter with an adventure that is next level romance.  Proposal and engagement photos in Missoula are basically the most fun because there’s no pressure, you get to choose between so many location options, and experience new things with your love.
