How to get to Cannon Beach

An hour and a half from Portland is Cannon Beach. If you’re traveling, fly into the Portland airport and then rent a car. The coolest thing about the drive is that you get to see mountains through forests, and then you end up at the beach! It’s the complete adventure in 90 minutes!

The Tillamook Head Traverse Hike will take you down to Cannon Beach. The first part of the 6.3 mi, 1350-foot hike is moderate and showcases the Tillamook Rock Lighthouse and cliff-top views. Our strong hikers will want to continue 1.3 mi to the Ecola State Park Trailhead, then down to Cannon Beach. If hiking isn’t your transportation of choice, there’s also a small public parking lot at Spruce and Third Street next to Public Coast Brewing and a big parking lot in south Cannon Beach (Tolovana Beach State Recreation Site) at Hemlock and Warren Way. There’s also plenty of street parking around town.

Cannon Beach Adventure Session 

Cost to elope in Cannon Beach: Marriage License – $60

You can either get a marriage license application by requesting it be delivered to you by mail, by calling (503) 325-8511, or by emailing a request with your mailing address to clerk@co.clatsop.or.us. You can also schedule an appointment to complete the application in person. Marriage Licenses are issued Monday – Friday between 8:30 am and 4:00 pm. To seal the deal, both parties must sign the license and pay the $60 non-refundable fee before the marriage ceremony.

Beach Weddings on the North Oregon Coast is the closest officiant to Cannon Beach. But, if you fall in love with any of the others, you can inquire about their travel cost! For Beach Weddings, the average package cost is $500.

Low Cost Oregon Wedding – $177

No matter where you go, it’s impossible to get married for free in Oregon. How much does it cost to get married at a courthouse in Oregon? The bare minimum cost to marry at a courthouse in Oregon is $177. This includes the $60 marriage license and the $117 court ceremony fee. 

Special Event Permit – $100

A permit is not required to get married on Cannon Beach as long as you keep it small. For gatherings of 50 people, or if your wedding requires structures (like chairs, arches, or tents) or the closure of public space, you will need to apply for and be approved for a Special Event Permit. This can cost $100.

If you’re getting married at Cannon Beach, we are going to assume you need some place to stay! Our top recommendations for overnight accommodations and venue options are Headlands and Hallmark. We also love Coast Cabins. This is a great option for a beach elopement without the extras.

Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa – $3,000 – $8,000

This is a great option because guests can stay on site in either a room or a cottage. Costs for a small elopement of 10-20 guests range from $3,000–$8,000.

Hallmark Resort & Spa Cannon Beach – $8,000 – $18,000

Hallmark Resort & Spa Cannon Beach is a 3-star resort offering an oceanfront spot with stunning views of Haystack Rock. The resort features spacious rooms, many with private balconies, fireplaces, and kitchenettes. Guests can enjoy amenities like indoor pools, a sauna, and an on-site spa. Perfect for families, couples, and pet owners, the resort is conveniently located near Cannon Beach’s shopping, dining, and outdoor activities, making it an ideal destination for a relaxing coastal getaway.

This wedding venue can host up to 80 guests. It also has both room blocks available and an on-site spa for your special day. If you’re having a wedding between 20 and 40 guests, the average cost is $8,000 to $18,000.

Coast Cabins $750.00

Coast Cabins is perfect if you want to elope to the beach without the wedding event fuss. You’ll stay in 4-star cabins offering luxury accommodations in Manzanita, Oregon. These cabins blend modern design with rustic charm. Located near the beach, the cabins feature unique architectural details, high-end amenities, and private outdoor spaces. Perfect for a tranquil escape, Coast Cabins provides easy access to coastal activities, from beachcombing to exploring nearby parks. Guests can enjoy privacy and relaxation in a serene, natural setting.

Two nights in the South Tower will cost you around $750. There is a freestanding suite with a living room downstairs and a bedroom loft upstairs. The patio area with teak seating features a sculptural fire-pit that doubles as a charcoal barbecue. Firewood is provided. Of all the cabins, this one sits closest to Laneda Avenue, so you can be close to town.
