If your dream wedding involves bringing all your favorite people to Montana, taking over an actual summer camp, dancing to a live band, and maybe getting surprised by a rainbow in the middle of the party, Katy and Nick have officially created the blueprint. Their summer camp wedding in Montana takes place at Luccock Park Camp outside Livingston, Montana, and this isn’t just a random venue they find because it fits the theme. Nick’s parents actually get married at Luccock Park years earlier.

A summer camp wedding is perfect for couples who care less about having a traditional ballroom wedding and more about creating an entire experience with their people. Instead of everyone arriving for six hours and leaving after the reception, a camp setting gives you space to settle in, spend time together, and make the location part of the wedding itself. These two and their guests got to stay in cabins on site. Luccock Park feels particularly suited for this because it is an actual Montana summer camp, not a wedding venue pretending to be one. There are cabins, gathering halls, meadows, a chapel, and mountain scenery surrounding the property.

Katy’s wedding dress fits the setting PERFECTLY. Instead of choosing something that feels overly formal for a summer camp, her boho-style dress feels romantic, relaxed, and completely at home in the Montana landscape. Then Nick brings in one of my favorite groom details: a killer bolo tie. Together, their wedding style feels elevated without losing the laid-back personality of the venue. It’s a great example of how you can dress beautifully for a Montana wedding without making the day feel overly formal.

Katy and Nick hold their ceremony outside, surrounded by the Montana landscape. And the weather holds up juuuuust long enough. For an outdoor wedding in Montana, you have to be willing to surrender a tiny bit of control. Mountain weather can change quickly, and sometimes the forecast simply does whatever it wants.
But clouds, wind, changing light, and a little weather can also become part of the story. In Katy and Nick’s case, they get their outdoor ceremony before the weather shifts, and later Mother Nature decides to contribute her own wedding decor with an actual rainbow.

Inside the dining hall, colorful camp-style flags immediately set the tone. They add color and personality without transforming the space into something it isn’t. That’s one of my favorite things about this wedding. Flags, banners, camp signage, communal tables, vintage-inspired details, and playful decor can make the entire wedding feel intentional while still letting the original character of the camp shine through.

And then things get rowdy. Katy and Nick kick off their reception with a WWE-themed introduction, which might be one of the greatest ways to enter a dining hall full of your favorite people. This is exactly the kind of detail I love seeing couples incorporate into their weddings. Your reception entrance doesn’t have to be elegant simply because it’s a wedding. Pick something you actually love. Make people laugh. Get everyone involved.

Then add a live band. There is something about live music at a camp wedding that just WORKS. It turns the reception into less of a formal wedding program and more of a giant party with everyone you love.

And somewhere in the middle of all of it, a rainbow appears. Because apparently the WWE entrance wasn’t dramatic enough.

If you’re considering your own summer camp wedding in Montana, my biggest advice is to embrace the experience instead of trying to turn the camp into a traditional wedding venue. Let people stay nearby or on-site when accommodations allow. Use the existing buildings. Plan activities. Bring in playful decor. Hire a live band. Create a rain plan. Choose clothing that makes sense for the landscape. Give your guests time to actually enjoy being together.
Katy and Nick don’t need their wedding to feel like anyone else’s. They combine family history, Montana scenery, boho style, camp details, an outdoor ceremony, WWE, live music, and one very well-timed rainbow.
