Whitefish, Montana. The mountain, the myth, the place for a legendary wedding. I mean, really. GORGEOUS views, top notch food, and a goddam gondola?? Okay, maybe it was a chairlift, tomato tomato. Point is, there were hands in the air, champagne popping, and serious mountain magic. Sam and James had an epic Whitefish Mountain Resort wedding! It is easy to see why Whitefish, Montana is so popular.
We started the day at Morning Eagle, the newest slopeside luxury lodge at Whitefish Mountain Resort. The ladies are full on hype for the day!
Pro tip: get ready on your wedding day with your best friend
We capture so many sweet moments of them together and Allie zipping up Sam’s dress. We talk a lot about couple goals, but the look on Allie’s face when Sam is in her wedding dress – complete with a sweetheart neckline and stunning train might we add – is incredible. Get yourself a friend like Allie.
We would also like to take a moment and mention Sam and James’ GREAT DANE, Atticus. What a beaut. Atticus was part of the first look and it was EVERYTHING. The wedding party was just as obsessed with him. MVP material right here. Have we mentioned that we love a dog friendly elopement?
A field of yellow flowers led to the ceremony site with a gorgeous hiking trail in the background. From the ski lift to the field of wildflowers to the mountain views, it was remarkable. If you haven’t considered a Whitefish Mountain Resort wedding, let me tell you… it’s time to flip the table and do something out of the box! Summer is typically the most expensive wedding season. It is actually more affordable to get married in Whitefish, Montana during their “off” season. Petitioning now to make ski destinations into summer wedding spots. Avoid the crowds, embrace the charm. As Sam and James rode the chairlift down to the ceremony, it became such an intentional time. They were able to take a break from the high energy excitement and enjoy their moment from a literal thousand foot view, together. We care SO much about our couples’ experience over any sort of rush and this is a beautiful way to inhale their time alone.
Down at the ceremony, two judges and previous defense attorneys were marrying Sam and James, who are two prosecuting attorneys. Does their dog named Atticus totally fit their life?? If that reference is lost on you, join our book club. To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic for a reason.
Friends tell friends to include their dog in the wedding
After an incredibly LEGAL ceremony, we capture family pictures and head on to dinner. As far as Whitefish wedding venues go, this one was incredible. The Whitefish Mountain resort books up to two years in advance if you want in! As self-proclaimed foodies, we have to highlight the stuffed spinach ravioli, a vegetarian kryptonite. For meat lovers, the crusted chicken breast over mashed potatoes with a white gravy was perfection. The fish option was a lake trout that the groom was very excited about. After choosing your location and photographers, food is the next most important decision.
The inside decor was navy blue and white, paired with Sam’s white bouquet. Our bride tribe is rockin champagne dresses to match the groom’s crews’ ties. After celebrating, dancing, and cake cutting, we steal Sam and James away for sunset photos. As the sun starts to dip behind, James takes on the important job of learning how to pop the champ(ange).
