Arches National park elopement, double arch, moab wedding photographer

It all started when Hannah and Casey reached out to us earlier this year, looking for a photo/video team for their Arches National Park elopement. And we said “ah heeeck yes!!” I remember that phone call with them when we day dreamed about what their elopement day could look like. They want a destination wedding where they could travel somewhere new together. Travel is really big for them so Moab is the perfect place. They even road trip all the way from Georgia to get there.

Fastward forward to October and it’s their wedding day! It is the full perfect day from start to finish. From the time their closest friends and family are helping them get ready, to the epic star photos at the end of the night. I really can’t imagine it going any other way. This is what a full day elopement looks like! So let me walk you through the magic of their day!

We meet up with Hannah & Casey in their getting ready AirBnBs and the first thing I notice is how excited everyone is. Casey could not WAIT to be married. It’s the sweetest thing! He just can’t tell us enough about how excited he is to marry his best friend. It’s really cute to see. He just wants to commit himself to his wife under an arch in Arches National Park.

The adventure of their Arches National Park elopement started the minute we got into the park. The sun shines as we drive the windy Main Park Road. We drive past Park Avenue, and soak in the views of the Organ and the Petrified Dunes on our way to the trailhead. I know I wasn’t the only one going all heart eyes for these views! We wind our way up to the trailhead, to begin the rest of their journey.

We arrive at Devil’s campground trailhead and hike to Pine Tree Arch. Hannah and her dad walk alone to the ceremony site, since everyone else goes ahead. They get this really cool moment to chat, reflect, and hang out. I love Pine Tree Arch because it’s a shady hike, which is really rare for desert elopements. We walk past high towers and dried juniper bushes. We find a quiet place that is tucked behind the arch where the ceremony can rock on in seclusion.

Casey sees Hannah and he’s immediately emotional. It’s the moment that hits everyone – it’s getting real. Their Arches National Park elopement ceremony is intimate, personal, and above all intentional. Their family gives them hugs and “whoooos!” after it’s official and then we’re off to explore.

Casey & Hannah climb cliffs and cascade down cracks. We explore Pine Tree Arch, soaking in the snow-capped La Sal Mountains in the distance. Next, we hike to Double Arch where we eeek out all the available light of the day. We put them inside an arch, and let them look out over the horizon as the sun sets. The light is behind them, and we celebrate that they’re finally MARRIED!

We’re getting hungry, so we drive back to the Moab Food Truck Park where we meet the family. We eat pizza, laugh, and celebrate even more. Hannah & Casey have their first dance under the twinkle lights of a food truck park, playing their song from a speaker. They cut cake on a bistro table. It’s spontaneous. It’s perfect. There is no ballroom with 300 guests. Instead, it’s their closest family and friends, the two of them, and that’s all they really need.

It’s spontaneous. It’s perfect.

They chose to honor a southern wedding tradition of a bell exit. The family rings bells (straight up jingle bells) as the couple goes down the line. It’s such a unique wedding touch!

It’s not an Arches National Park elopement without the epic star photos! We go to their tent at Under Canvas Moab to capture the gorgeous night sky. They star gaze together, pointing out Hannah’s favorite constellations.

All in all, it’s an amazing way to spend their wedding day! It’s epic, adventurous, sweet, tender, and full of love. I couldn’t wish anything better for these two lovebirds!
