To say we’ve been looking forward to Paulina & Curt’s adventure session for weeks is an understatement. Jake and I are so fuckin stoked when we arrive at the beach for their Mexico beach adventure in Sayulita at Playa de Los Muertos. The sun rises over the beach and creates the most gorgeous light ever. This will always and forever be one of our favorite beaches in Mexico! We love it for it’s clear blue waters, pristine beach and the waves that just won’t quit! Sayulita is one of those little towns that is absolutely perfect for an adventure. It’s backed by the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains, and offers really cool whale watching opportunities. If you’re into that kind of thing. Picture us, waving both hands in the air like we just don’t care!
We know about these two ah-mazing people because their artwork is actually hanging in our home. YASSSS these people are basically the celebrities of Sayuilta, and we are here for it. Paulina is one of the owners of Palu Gallery! They create ceramic skulls with plant and geometic designs, art prints that I want on every single wall of our home, and really cool hand painted rocks. Curt Barter is a drone photographer who photographs the epic beaches and surf life in the area. We have big print of the beach hanging up too! Not gonna lie, we were just a littttle bit starstruck when we meet them on the beach on the morning of their Mexico beach adventure in Sayuilta. They ride up on their motorbike, and it’s just fun and games after that. They are such sweet and genuine people, it’s hard not to like them.
pro tip: arrive at sunrise for your Mexico beach adventure session!
There wasn’t anybody at the beach when we arrived, and only a few when we left. This is why we loooove photographing our couples’ adventure at sunrise. The light is glorious and you have the place all to yourself.
The cool thing about the beach is that you have to walk through a cemetery to get to it. Playa de Los Muertos translates to “Beach of the Dead.” The Mexican culture celebrates death with “The Day of the Dead,” a holiday celebrated in the beginning of November. The holiday involves family and friends celebrating their loved ones’ lives in a humorous tone, as celebrants remember funny stories and anecdotes. It’s a custom that Jake and I actually take part in, now that we know more about it. Anywaaaaay, the cemetery is light hearted and colorful. It’s truly a beautiful place.
We scramble over some precarious rocks to get to a secret little cove on the beach. It’s the perfect spot for their Mexico beach adventure in Sayulita. Paulina & Curt are pros getting there and it’s so fun to take some photos of them, just living it up on the beach. Of course, we laugh a lot over all the dumb stuff, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you’re thinking about eloping in Mexico, or even heading there for a vacation and want to get some ah-mazing photos of your adventure with your honey…. hellloooooo to a double date with Jake and I! We’ll take the photos, you have the adventure! Mexico is our spirit animal and we’re here to recommend the coolest places for you!
