Glacier Elopement with Lake Hike

SPRING IS HERE AND WE ARE SINGING. The birds are chirping, our couples are gushing, and dare we say it – love is in the air! The recent rain has left the mountain green and gorgeous, perfect for Maggie and James’ Glacier National Park elopement. 

Maggie grew up in the Sierra Nevada mountains, inspiring her love for all things mountaintop. When James proposed in beautiful Wyoming everything felt right. Together, it seemed fitting to plan an adventurous outdoor elopement. The cherry on top of the plan-  Glacier has been on her ultimate mountain bucket list. A husband and a dream mountain? Maggie and James were ready to make their elopement a fun experience for themselves and their two kids – Evie and Ridge.

The morning had a tranquil tone, like the day was just meant for Maggie and James. Their wish was to go somewhere beautiful and get married, and now that was only 3,905 hiking feet away! The hike up to Avalanche Lake held some of the most fun moments of the day. Evie is so strong, carrying Ridge on her back for most of the trails. The family goofed around together, smiling from ear to ear. Maggie was show stopping – hiking in her beautiful boho, backless dress. When other hikers passed by they commented in awe at her, hyping her up. LOOK AT YOU, BRIDE BADASS!

Through the lush and green trails, we got to be flies on the wall, watching this beautiful family of four enjoying their magical day together. Deer came out to take a peek at the fun before ducking back into the trees. Throughout the two mile hike, the fresh smell of rain, and the wild life, all that could be thought about was the two lives coming together in marriage. ALSO there was a momma deer getting ready to POP! Another good omen for this wonderful family.

The rain picked up for a bit, but the family only slowed down for snacks. A staple item that we included on The Ultimate Adventure Elopement Guide. Towards the top we saw blue jays above and chipmunks beside us. Welcoming us to their land. With snow on the mountains, the reflections on the lake were nothing short of magical. Maggie and James giggled sweetly with each other, sharing their affection. They made their own moments, two stepping by the lake just as they do in their kitchen at home in Texas. After taking full advantage of photographing the beauty above, it was time to hike down to the ceremony.

A short drive away was Apgar Amphitheater where Maggie and James’ closest friends and family were waiting. There, they gathered for the sweetest, intimate wedding. Maggie’s step dad officiated the wedding and had everyone laughing. THEY ARE FREAKING MARRIED NOW. Can I get a HEEEYYYY YAAAA! Off the Shores of Lake McDonald, there is a large AirBnB for the family. The following hours were spent eating, drinking, and soaking in the celebration. A nephew cut the cake (the really delicious cake) and then the party moved to Whitefish city beach. 

The last adventure for their day was catching the sunset. As the day came to an end, we snapped some moody stars in dusk photos. Our couple had their first dance married out on the dock. Under the stars they cheers-ed with a champagne toast. Finally, we said goodbye with lanterns in front of them, the most romantic close to the day and start of their life together. It could have been a cover for romance novels! Cheers again and again to Maggie, James, Evie and Ridge!!
