Lake Tahoe Elopement

FEATURED IN TAHOE UNVEILED

At the end of the day, Claire & Denver are married! Their day was a seriously fuckin awesome adventure that we wish for every single eloping couple out there. Their Lake Tahoe elopement included teary eyed vows on top of a mountain, champagne poppin’ on the back of a sunset boat tour, and the undeniable love between two people. These two chose to elope because they wanted their wedding day to be the adventure they always have together. They wanted their day to be authentic to who they are as a couple. Mischief managed.

Let us just walk you through this epic day! The day starts off a their AirBnB with their dog, Duke. He’s basically the cutest dog we’ve ever seen, all springy and wirey. Our sweet bride is a bundle of nerves. She worries about the details and to-dos. She worries about the schedule she feels she has to keep. It’s totally normal and we build the timeline so there is loads of space for spontaneity! After their ceremony (don’t you worry, we’ll tell you all about it), we asked her how she was feeling and she said, “this is the perfect day.” For Claire to say that it was the perfect day really emphasizes everything we are going for! WINNING!

Claire & Denver’s Lake Tahoe elopement had one of the coolest hikes we’ve ever been on.

Hands down, the views of Lake Tahoe below with these huge boulders all around us made our top 5 hikes list! Monkey Rock trail is a steep climb, and it’s worth it. It’s a sunny day in that arid Nevada climate. Claire & Denver have their backpacks on and hike up in their wedding clothes.

Up at the top is the most amazing view. We see the lake and shoreline with the turquoise water and big boulders nestled there. We eat a snack and hand pick their ceremony location. The officiant, Ceremonies by Meredith, spoke such meaningful words and clearly knew the couple so well. Claire & Denver’s vows make us all teary eyed!

Pro tip on flowers: if you choose a hiking elopement, have a small dry sack and wet towel to keep the flowers watered on the hike.

We give them some space to soak in the fact that they are fuckin MARRIED, and then we take some bride and groom portraits at Monkey Rock, overlooking Lake Tahoe. There wasn’t anything that could wipe the smiles off their faces!

We cruise over to Sand Harbor for some more pictures as we wait for the sun to set. We get a little sassy and cozy and pretty with our posing. It’s adorable.

You can’t elope in Lake Tahoe without a sunset boat tour

Yes. You read that right. These two pick up pizza, bring the champagne, and we tour Lake Tahoe in style. The Wild Goose II makes us feel like we’re in a James Bond movie! We toast to their marriage as they sit on the back of the boat, sun soaked and happy. They eat dinner and breathe in the fact they are married today. We celebrate as we drink our champagne and we cheers to them!

Claire kept saying it was the perfect day. That meant so much to me. When you plan a full day elopement, it is the best experience ever! We embrace the spontaneity of the day and didn’t need things planned out minute by minute. We make the time for experiences you’ll never forget. If you and your person are thinking about making an adventure out of it, we are your people! Full day elopement packages are our JAM!

  1. […] Case and point – Betsy and Andy envisioned a Monkey Rock elopement. The 2.6-mile out-and-back trail is near Incline Village-Crystal Bay, Nevada. It is generally considered a moderately challenging route and takes an average of 1 h 16 min to complete. It’s one of our favorite spots for a Lake Tahoe hiking elopement. […]
